For 45 000 DWT bulk carriers,several issues on machinery discipline during construction and sea trial were discussed,including engine room ventilation duct arrangement,rules requirement to the openings for emergency generator room ventilation,the effect on the strength of propulsion shaft coupling due to dimension change of the coupling bolts,and the proper overflow openings on fuel oil tanks,etc. An analysis from a design perspective was performed and several practical solutions were provided and based on the information and feedback from shipyard.
