Taking Haikou-Haian ro-ro passenger vessel as an example,a finite element analysis on primary transverse structures of the vessel was introduced based on corresponding CCS rules. The assessment of yielding and buckling strength was carried out by MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN. According to the FE results ,structure scantlings and details were optimized and reinforced. The results could serves as reference for ro-ro passenger vessel design.
