Self-unloading bulk carrier was one type of bulk carrier with the self-unloading equipment. Thus its loading and discharging operation would not rely on the port system and the operation control will be concentrated and fast with lower cost. The design of 55 000 DWT self-unloading bulk carrier overcomes several disadvantages of traditional self-unloading bulk carrier. With the feature of high-efficiency discharge equipment above main deck ,simple cargo hold,high efficiency,less malfunction and convenience for maintaining,it could be adapt to convey ore,coal and grain etc. This article described the design feature of the 55 000 DWT self-unloading bulk carrier.
