本文以J?Harmer 的平衡活动教学法为基础，探讨在多模态、多媒体环境下高校英语课堂教学中，英语教师要充分利用课堂、多媒体和网络等媒介的不同功能，实现学生与教师的平衡，教师与教材的平衡，学生与教材的平衡，使三者处于一个开放的动态的平衡之中，构建新的教学模式，推动外语教学上一个新台阶，从而进一步提高大学英语课堂教学的效度，真正提高非英语专业大学生英语综合应用能力。

This article discusses that English teachers, on the basis of J?Harmer balance teaching theory, should make full use of different functions of classroom, multimedia and Internet to achieve the balance of students and teachers, the balance of teachers and textbooks and the balance of students and textbooks. The balance of teachers, textbooks and students should be in an open dynamic state. Therefore, it can construct a new teaching mode to promote foreign language teaching. Moreover, this teaching mode can further improve teaching validity of English class in the university and truly improve the non-English major university students’ ability to use English in all around way.
