Compared with ordinary Chinese dialects, the initial consonants of Siyi(四邑) dialect in Guangdong have many dominant differences and some recessive differences. To explain why ancient Xinmu words are pronounced fricative ? , it is necessary to pay attention to the historical contact between the Lingnan Chinese and Baiyue(百越)dialect,and the other credible clues can be found in Siyi dialect system.
