Large scale demolition and new construction seems to be an inevitable process that urban development needs to experience. Development of the cur ent city should respect the past;however it should not be confined by the past. The city of Shanghai is abundant with historic memories and valuable heritage buildings. These evidences of history are ir eplaceable and ought to be cherished. Therefore, proper verification, preservation and restoration of historic heritage buildings becomes an important issues we need to address nowadays.
