The economic analysis of air conditioning system of a new factory laboratory in Shanghai, adopting ground source heat pump system and screw chillers with steam heating system as two heat and cold source schemes, were analyzed and compared. Models of main facilities were comparatively chosen, based on the cold and heat load of the building, and the initial investment and annual running cost were comparatively analyzed. With the method of static investment payback period, the outcome suggests that the payback period of ground source heat pump is 4.4 years, which can be a reference for the owner while making the heat and cold source schemes.
