    本文以南京三大不同层次高校英语专业学生跨文化交际能力的实证调查材料为佐证，以belay理论为基础揭示了处于这一阶段水平的英语专业大学生在跨文化交际能力方面存在的问题，阐明了跨文化交际能力培养的重要性，提出了提高英语专业学生跨文化交际能力的基本对策。

    Based on the data collected from the questionnaires distributed at three universities which are at different levels in Nanjing, this paper discusses difficulties students majoring in English encounter during intercultural communication according to Belay theory. Besides, it analyzes the importance in developing such competence, and puts forward some constructive suggestions in terms of English teaching and learning.
