It was one of the key factors for the selection of process safety valve (PSV), that was to accurately determine PSV discharge. In the standards,《HG/T20570.2-1995 Setting and Selection of PSV》, the formula to calculate the liquid relief capacity of PSV under control valve failure was not introduced. Basing on some engineering experiences, this paper provided a kind of calculation method to quantify the liquid relief capacity of PSV under control valve failure. Moreover, a example was illustrated to explain how to use this calculation method.
