The process technologies for conversion of coke oven gas (COG) to synthetic natural gas (SNG) were presented and analyzed with the emphasis on the methanation route. The process conditions including catalysts, reaction pressure and temperature as well as reactors for methanation of COG were discussed. It was also pointed out that the enterprises develop coke oven gas to SNG projects should carefully choose the advanced, proven and reliable technology according to their own situation. For those having a large requirement of H2, the process of coproduction of H2 and SNG could be selected, and for those having abundant CO2 resource, the process of producing SNG by supplying CO2 to COG to methanation could obtain better economic and environmental benefits.
