The paper has discussed the development of UAV to UAS and their opto-electronic payload. About UAS, the importance of systematic top-level design is pointed out through many possible collaborated working mode in the future. It’s suggested that military market of UAV and UAS should be regulated and corresponding regulation be set up. About opto-electronic payload, it’s introduced that major sensors change with UAS. The paper summarizes development trends that UAS demands, such as high specification, multi-purpose, multi-spectrum/super-spectrum, general purpose and open architecture, intelligence, and miniature, etc. And each technology procedure has been simply introduced.
