Firstly,the adverse effects of plateaus ambient conditions on engines and the corresponding so-lutions are reviewed. The improvement for turbocharging system has been drawing the attention of re-searchers,who were dedicated to power recovery for engines running at plateau. And two types of such im-provement are introduced- matching turbocharger for plateaus usage and adjustable turbocharging tech-nologies. Secondly,the theories,history and the status quo of typical adjustable turbocharging tech-nolo-gies are presented individually,such as: Turbo Waste-gate technology,variable geometry turbocharger (VGT),two stage turbo-charger(TST),sequential turbocharging system(STC),electrically assisted turbocharger (EAT)and Combined Supercharging Sys-tem (CSC). What's more,the prospect of every technology applying at plateau was also discussed. Eventually,after the discussion and comparison,VGT, TST and Speed-Controllable Combined Supercharging were considered to be capable to enhance the power of diesel engines at plateau and also easy to be carried out.
