M-methyl benzoic acid, as raw material in organic synthesis and intermediate of pesticides, has important industrial value and strategic significance. Because of its broad prospects for development, such as for the synthesis of methyl bisethylamine, methyl cyanide, herbicide, expelling agent and novel plasticizer, synthetic study about it has been one of the hot issues. This paper reviews briefly on the use, preparation method and the prospects as plasticizer in FVC coatings etc.
