The concept of smart grid is elaborated and the role of distribution communication network in smart power distribution system is introduced. Through comparing three PON technologies,the advantages of EPON technology are highlighted,and the scheme of applying EPON technology to realize smart power distribution communication network is elaborated. Finally,the issues that may exist in the construction are explored.
