Various combined operation conditions and load components should be considered because the derrick of offshore drilling platforms are affected by the various environmental loads and self-loads under operation. This paper builds 3D finite element model of a platform with the upgraded drilling rig by SACS, performs direct calculation and analysis under the various operation loads, and puts forward the effective and economic reinforcement scheme which can satisfy the requirements after promotion.
