A regional agricultural water demand and supply ratio (RA) and a reservoir storage coefficient (C) were defined for analyzing the droughts in Yunnan province during 2006-2010. It is identified that unbalance between water supply and demand more often occurs in April than in other months. Rational res-ervoir regulation can ensure the water demanded by main crops during dry season. While annual rainfall is insufficient, 10 cities among 16 in the province are in danger of drought. The drought in 2006 seems the same as that in 2010, but the latter is more dangerous than the former. RA and C can be used to analyze drought and guide regional water resources planning.
