《红楼梦》翻译一直是文化翻译的一大焦点，其中，专有名词作为一类特殊的词，其翻译也引起了不少争议。《红楼梦》中的专有名词大多选自古诗词，有着丰富的文化内涵和底蕴，与人物性格、命运等密切相关。该论文从奈达动态对等理论出发，着重分析霍克斯翻译版本的《红楼梦》英译中部分人名、地名等专有名词的翻译策略，并试图进行归纳总结，发现译者主要采用了直译、意译和音译加注三种策略来最大限度地传译专有名词承载的文化信息。

Hong Lou Meng has been a major part in the cultural translation. Proper nouns in Hong Lou Meng, quoted from Chi-nese ancient poetries, have a rich culture and are closely related to the fates of the characters. In this way, a hot debate has been caused in the translation of proper nouns in Hong Lou Meng. Therefore, within Nida’s dynamic equivalence, this study primary intends to see what translation strategies were adopted in translating personal or place names in Hawks’version of Hong Lou Meng. The results show that, in order to translate the cultural information greatly, Hawks adopted three strategies:literal transla-tion, free translation and transliteration with notes.
