美国当代英语语料库（简称COCA ）是现今世界最大的英语平衡语料库，本文选取其SPOKEN 和NEWSPAPER两个子库为语料，检索“China”和“Japan”各自的相对差异性名词搭配词，观察索引行以及拓展语境，据此总结美国媒体涉华、涉日报道议题的差异。结果表明，有别于对日报道，美媒涉华报道议题包括一党专制、人权等意识形态色彩浓厚的议题，环境污染问题，中美经贸问题等15项议题，内容广泛；美媒涉日报道中区别于涉华报道的议题较少，集中于地震、海啸、核辐射等自然灾害，日本捕鲸活动，日本二战重大事件和日美贸易争端。总的来说，美媒涉华报道充满陈见，而涉日报道更为客观。

Currently ,COCA is the world’s largest balanced corpus of American English .By searching its two sec-tions of SPOKEN and NEWSPAPER with“China” and“Japan” as queries ,this study ,based on the observation of their respective noun collocates as well as the concordance lines and expanded contexts ,is intended to examine the distinctive topics of China-related and Japan-related news reports by American media .The results reveal that China-related reports , in contrast to Japan-related ones ,cover 15 distinctive topics ,such as ideological issues and environmental pollution ,and that Japan-related reports cover 5 distinctive topics ,such as natural disasters and whaling issues .On the whole ,Ameri-can media display overt prejudice in China-related reports while its Japan-related reports tend to be more objective .
