Owing to physical characteristics of martensitic heat resistant steel , quality defects easily ap-peared in continuous casting process , such as surface depression , central porosity and central pipe and so on .By studying solidification characteristics and high temperature characteristic of martensitic heat resistant steel in continu -ous casting process , formation mechanism of defects were analyzed .After continue casting technology was optimized , billet quality has improved effectively .
