By combining theory analysis with numerical calculation method, the wave characteristics of un-steady flow in the approach channel and the improvement measures were studied in the combination with the ship lock upper approach channel of the Three Gorges Project. Then the most unfavorable conditions of ship lock filling of the Three Gorges Project and wave height reduction method were proposed.
