Hainan scholar Meng Li-ming published ten papers in the journal of The World of Building Materials.He preliminary build the framework of“atmosphere tension formula of effective stress of unsaturated soil and new concept of soil mechanics”.The points are:should use the concept of effective stress instead of classical principle of effective stress,the effective stress is the stress with a collection of points to provide shear strength in soil;unsaturated soil has five phase;free water and pore gas has the equivalent compression stiffness(the equivalent compression modulus and e-quivalent compression coefficient);the essence of effective stress is free water and pore gas no shear capacity;atmos-pheric tension tensile strength,reveals the suction of unsaturated soil;atmospheric tension coulomb's shear strength, shows the outline of the classic cohesion;should use the absolute pressure on soil mechanics.The formulae are:atmos-phere tension formula of effective stress of unsaturated soil;for atmospheric tension series:saturation coefficient and rate of free water channel,effective gravity stress,bearing capacity of foundation soil,Rankine's earth pressure,Coulomb 's earth pressure,stability of soil slope,the foundation compressive deformation and seepage consolidation,etc.
