Objective To study the correlation between ligament degeneration and cervical degeneration with high-frequency ultrasound. Methods Sixty-three patients were enrolled in case group and 57 cases were en-rolled in control group. High-frequency ultrasound scanning was performed in two groups in both neutral and 45° pro-trusive positions. The nuchal ligament morphology, Echoes, minimum cross-sectional area change rate were compared between the two groups. Results The ligamentum nuchae morphology was closely related to the abnormality of cer-vical degeneration. Compared with the control group, the overall of former ligamentum in the case group became thickening and the echoes increased. SegmentⅠ,ⅡandⅣof minimum cross-sectional area change rate decreased, while sectionⅢof which increased with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Ultra-sound was an economic, convenient, non-invasive imaging method. It can make an accurate assessment of nuchal liga-ment abnormalities, and provide an important basis for screening and diagnosis of cervical spondylosis.
