白居易继承陈子昂、杜甫的兼济思想，创作了170余首优秀“讽谕”诗篇。这些讽喻诗多用散文化句式，诗中多杂以议论，还善于运用虚字虚词。这些创作手法具有以文为诗的特点，对宋诗特点的形成也起到了重要作用。

백거역계승진자앙、두보적겸제사상，창작료170여수우수“풍유”시편。저사풍유시다용산문화구식，시중다잡이의론，환선우운용허자허사。저사창작수법구유이문위시적특점，대송시특점적형성야기도료중요작용。
BAI Ju-yi inherited CHEN Zi-ang and DU Fu's thought of consideration to others, created more than 170 excellent allego-ry poems.These allegorical poems mostly used prose sentence and was with a lot of discussion.BAI Ju-yi was also adept at the use of function words.These poetic techniques showed the skills of article writing, which is also the characteristics of Song dynasty poetries and also plays an important role in its formation.
