思想品德教育只有紧密结合不断发展的现实生活，才能达到教育的目的。即思想品德教育要与时俱进，密切联系实际，贴近生活，创新教育内容和方法，以求达到把青少年学生培养成思想进步、品行端正、社会责任感强的社会主义建设者和接班人的目的。还要有敏锐地捕捉社会热点，紧跟时代步伐，引导学生学以致用，运用理论联系实际。
