西湖是中国城市历史风景中普遍性的文化现象。《永乐大典·六模湖》首次以官方文献的形式，确立了西湖文化范式的定位，并辑录了36个西湖的大量诗文资料。以《永乐大典》西湖文献为主线，综合相关案例在方志、城市笔记及文记中的历史记载，提出西湖文化始于魏晋，风景化于唐代，兴盛于宋代的演进历程。并由此归纳了西湖是中华水利社会的典型文化符号、“山-水-城”空间模式的典型代表、儒家政治理想的物质空间载体等历史意义。

서호시중국성시역사풍경중보편성적문화현상。《영악대전·륙모호》수차이관방문헌적형식，학립료서호문화범식적정위，병집록료36개서호적대량시문자료。이《영악대전》서호문헌위주선，종합상관안례재방지、성시필기급문기중적역사기재，제출서호문화시우위진，풍경화우당대，흥성우송대적연진역정。병유차귀납료서호시중화수리사회적전형문화부호、“산-수-성”공간모식적전형대표、유가정치이상적물질공간재체등역사의의。
The West Lake is a universal cultural phenomenon in China's city historical landscape. Compiling a huge number of poetic materials about 36 West Lakes,The Yongle Canon: Six Pattern Lake, for the first time, orients the West Lake cultural pattern from the perspective of official literature. Based on the West Lake literatures inThe Yongle Canon, the paper synthesizes the related cases historically recorded in local chronicles and city notes, illustrates an evolving procedure that the West Lake culture derived from Wei and Jin Dynasties, became a cultural landscape in Tang Dynasty, and thrived in Song Dynasty. Meanwhile, the paper makes a conclusion of the historical signiifcance of the West Lake as a symbolic cultural icon in the hydraulic society of China and an exemplary case in the spatial pattern of "mountain-water-city", as well as a physical spatial carrier of the political thoughts of Confucianism.
