The structure and formation mechanism of microemulsion as well as its polymerization mecha-nism was summarized. Then a simple introduction was made on the polymerization of microemulsion,in-verse microemulsion and bicontinuous microemulsion. The developments and applications of the microe-mulsion polymerization in drilling fluid were emphasized. In addition,the problems and prospects of micro-emulsion polymerization were discussed.
