A compact non-pyrotechnic separator was introduced .Constitution of the machine ,operating principle was de-scribed .Based on FMEA(Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) ,this paper made sure which part in every component of separator was the weakest strength structure ,force analysis and maximum connection strength of those segments were calculated .Meanwhile ,the separation parameters of the separator were tested .The results showed that the separator had good separation performance which was in line with expectations requirements and it provide theoretical basis for the design of similar devices .
