Liquidus plasma electrolytic saturation (PES)technology,that was,carburizing,nitriding,boriding or multi-element penetrating performed by using a plasma discharge in liquid,was introduced,including the basic operating principle, the process characteristics, the composition of electrolyte, etc. The current-voltage characteristic and physicochemical effect during the PES were described.The surface morphologies,both the microstructure and hardness of case were introduced for 20CrMnTi and 40Cr steels subjected to PES treating.
