The paper will analyze Conrad’s novel Lord Jim from the perspective of postcolonial critical approach,especially the orientalist discourse represented and described in the novel.Due to its population,this novel is appreciated and criticized by many critics both at home and abroad.Through such kind of deep and careful analysis of the text,a better understanding of racial superiority will be achieved.Moreover,the death of the protagonist Jim in the end forecasts the inevitable declining trend of western imperial culture.This novel will be analyzed in three aspects.
