Objective To compare the speech articulation between hearing-impaired children and normal-hearing children and to provide references for the rehabilitation training of hearing-impaired children. Methods The articulation and phonology assessment materials were used to test the speech articulation abilities of 114 hearing-impaired children and 36 normal -hearing children aged 3 to 5. The test scores were compared between the two groups. Results (1)There was no significant difference between different gender and age groups(P>0.05).(2)The difference between hearing-impaired and normal-hearing children in speech articulation was significant(P<0.05),and hearing-impaired children lagged far behind their normal-hearing peers.(3)There were highly significant differences in consonant and vowel articulation scores between hearing-impaired and normal-hearing children(P<0.01),and was a significant difference between the two groups in tone articulation score (P<0.05).Conclusion In terms of speech articulation, the hearing-impaired children of 3-5 years old fall behind their normal peers, especially in consonant and vowel. Special attention should be given to the speech articulation training for hearing-impaired children.
