Objective To establish normal ranges of reference value for calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc and i-ron in peripheral blood for children at aged 0~6 of Anhui Province. Methods According to the geographical dis-tribution and economic level, 9 630 healthy children of child health care system were selected by stratified random sampling method in Hefei urban district and three counties, Tong ling county and Xiao xian county. Calcium, mag-nesium, copper, zinc and iron in peripheral blood were determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy. ResultsThere was statistical significance among different groups of calcium, copper, zinc and iron in peripheral blood ( P<0.05 );the levels of copper were different between the genders in infants group ( P<0.05 );and the levels of mag-nesium, copper, zinc, and iron were different between the genders in school-age children (P<0.05). Conclusion Factors such as region, age and gender should be considered when establishing the normal reference ranges for these five elements in peripheral blood in children.
