This article introduces the background, code requirements and methodology concerning qualification of steam generator forgings used in 1000 MW grade nuclear power plant. Qualification plan is established based on reviewing the characteristics of configurations and manufacturing techniques of steam generator forgings. The qualification plan can evaluate the homogeneity of the chemical analysis and the mechanical properties and can check effectively the internal soundness of the forgings. The plan has been implemented successfully on steam generator forgings qualification in several engineering projects such as Fuqing,Fangjiashan nuclear power plants.
