Antiplatelet theraphy is a major player inlfuencing the rate of recurrent stroke for secondary stroke prevention. Aspirin and clopidogrel are the commonly prescribed antiplatelet agents. They have become research hotspots for investigating combination of antiplatelet agents as well as development of novel agents. Since the rate of recurrent stroke are higher during the early stage after ischaemic stroke, early and long-term antiplatelet therapy of secondary stroke prevention are not always the same.
