Objective To investigate and analyze BMI-related diseases and related indexes of naval aviators flying different types of aircraft, so as to provide good evidence for nutritional and health support of naval aviators. Methods Two hundred and twenty-two naval aviators flying 3 different types of aircraft, who stayed in the sanatorium from January 2012 to December 2013, were chosen as our study subjects. Then, disease detection rates and related indexes of the aviators flying 3 different types of aircraft were compared be-tween the high BMI group and the normal BMI group, and the relationship in different ages/different flying service time versus detection rates/related indexes was analyzed accordingly. Results (1) No significant differences could be noted in the average BMI data, when comparisons were made between the aviators flying the 3 different types of aircraft (P >0.05),and significant differences could neither be seen in the detection rates of high BMI (P >0.05).(2) Detection rates of hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) in the high BMI aviators flying the 3 different types of aircraft were obviously higher than those of the normal BMI aviators flying the same type of aircraft ( P<0.01, P<0.05, P<0.05).Detection rates of HUA for the high BMI aviators flying type II aircraft and detection rates of HCHO for the high BMI aviators flying type III aircraft were all significantly higher than those of the normal BMI aviators flying the same type of aircraft (P<0.05).(3)The following was a comparison between the high BMI aviators flying different types of aircraft. The SBP level of the aviators flying type I aircraft was significantly lower than that of the aviators flying type III aircraft (P<0.01).The UA level of the aviators flying type I and II aircraft was significantly higher than that of the aviators flying type III aircraft (P<0.05).The following was a comparison between the normal BMI aviators flying different types of aircraft. The FPG level of the aviators flying type I and III air-craft was significantly higher than that of the aviators flying type II aircraft (P<0.05).(4) For aviators flying type I and III aircraft, age and flying service time had effects to various extent on the detection rate of high BMI (P<0.05 or P<0.01), however, there was no sig-nificant difference in the detection rate of high BMI in aviators flying type II aircraft (P<0.05).Conclusion Flying factors and high BMI were the main factors associated with related diseases and disorder of related indexes, to which attention should be paid.
