翻译适应选择论将达尔文生物进化论中的“自然选择”、“适者生存”等概念引入翻译研究，认为翻译活动是译者充分发挥主观能动性，积极适应翻译生态环境而进行的选择活动。董乐山的翻译注意启人心智，具有强烈的目的性，体现了在特定翻译生态环境中的适应与选择。其翻译策略很好地适应了汉语世界的语言维、文化维和交际维，达到最佳的整合适应选择度。

Natural Selection and Survival of the Fittest for Evolution Theory is introduced into translation by Translation as Adaptation and Selection(TAS) which indicates that translators should give full play to the con-scious activity in translation and fit to different translation fields. Dong Leshan’s translation focuses on edifi-cation that shows the adaption and selection in specific translation with strong purpose. Its translation strategy adapts to language, culture and communication well in the world of Chinese so as to achieve the best adaptive selection.
