中国当代很多画家在探索具象写实与意象表现融合和转变，通常有如下几方面原因：（1）照相术的影响；（2）具象审美的疲劳；（3）时代发展的需要；（4）绘画者经济效益的需要；（5）画家年龄和精力的原因；（6）个人绘画造型水平现状的选择；（7）个人个性化的体现。意象元素正在当代画坛盛行，当代的意象风格有一个很明显的特点，以具象写实为基础，写意为衬托，同时在色彩上引入了印象派的元素。
