中国传统村落是农耕文明的精髓和中华民族的根基，蕴藏着丰富的历史文化信息与自然生态景观资源，是我国乡村历史、文化、自然遗产的“活化石”和“博物馆”，是中华传统文化的重要载体和中华民族的精神家园。立足于鄂西南山区，以土家族传统村落为研究对象，以利川市老屋基老街传统村落为例，探讨在城镇化、工业化和现代化过程中传统村落保护、传承和发展的途径与方式，提出相关保护方法与措施，寻求合理开发和利用，从而促进地方经济的发展，提高当地人民生活水平。

Chinese traditional villages are the essence of agricultural civilization and the foundation of the Chinese nation,which are rich in history and natural landscapes and cultural information resources.They are the“living fossil” and“museum” of villages history,culture and natural herilage,an important carrier of the traditional culture and the spiritual home of the Chinese nation.Taking Tujia traditional villages as the research object and taking the traditional village of Laowuji old street, for example, this paper ex-plores ways and means in urbanization,industrialization and modernization process of the traditional vil-lage protection,inheritance and development proposed methods and measures related to the protection, seeking rational development and utilization,thereby contributing to local economic development and im-prove local people′s living standards.
