杜能通过一系列假设条件，把研究对象确定为一个与世隔绝的孤立国。在此基础上，建立同心圆模式，提出孤立国全境的生产布局以城市为中心，由内向外依次排列着六个不同圈境，每个圈境都有自己的主要产品，以及相应的耕作制度。决定各圈境农业土地利用和经营方式的，除了土地资源的性质外，更主要的是它与农产品市场之间的距离。杜能由此创建的农业区位论对后来的区位论产生了深刻影响，但也存在偏离实际和某些观点前后矛盾等问题。

Through a series of assumptions , von Thunen identified the research subject as an isolated state .On this basis , he built a concentric circle model , and argued that the distribution of production of the i-solated state centered around the city , and from the inner to the outer there were 6 rings, each had its own main products and the corresponding tillage systems .What determined the agricultural land use and manage-ment mode in the ring was the distance from the market and different kind of products in addition to the nature of land resource .Von Thunen ’ s agricultural location theory has profound influence on the later location theo-ry.But, problems such as deviating from the reality and some inconsistent viewpoints do exist in his theory .
