The charging process of marine steam accumulators is associated with vapor-water two-phase energy and mass transfer, which has the characteristics of instantaneous steam consuming and powerful thermal load fluctuation, and its charging steam performance directly determines the stability of ship steam power systems. Based on the actual operating conditions, a two-fluid model and a thermal change model with considerations of evaporation and condensation for vapor and liquid two phases are established. Nu-merical study on the dynamic characteristics of the charging process for marine steam accumulators under different initial pressure and water level is carried out. The calculated results show that a high initial water level during the charging process in a steam accumulator would lead to low pressure and steam temperature at the case of charging steam with constant mass flow. Meanwhile, a higher initial pressure would cause higher pressure and steam temperature. Finally, at the beginning of charging process, higher initial pres-sure may result in more dramatic fluctuation for water levels and pressure within a steam accumulator.
