Concept and function of flying gauge change ( FGC) for tandem cold mill were explained .The influence of un-steady rolling during FGC such as material yield and rolling gauge were analyzed .The corresponding measures to improve the stability of rolling were introduced .The facts showed that these measures can reduce the accident during FGC and im-prove the stability of rolling effectively after used .
