印度的英语教育始于英国统治时期，独立初期政府曾试图废除英语教育，但在多方反对下最终出台了三语方案，重新认可了英语的地位。印度中小学广泛开展英语教育，公立中小学多将英语作为必修课程，采用多种方式培养学生的语言运用能力；不少私立中小学则将英语作为教学语言，一切教学活动均以英语为媒介。在中小学英语教育中，政府与民众的高度重视、教学内容以实用为导向、教学方式灵活多样，这些举措均为印度国际化人才的培养奠定了扎实的基础。

The English Education in India originated during the colonial period. After independence, the Indian government tried to abolish English education but failed under mutual pressure. Later, the Three Language Formula came out, reconifrmed the importance of English education. English education is a general practice in Indian Primary and Secondary Schools. English is taught as a compulsory course in public schools, while private schools choose English as their teaching media, all the teaching and learning are carried out in English. In the English education of Indian primary and secondary schools, both the government and the people attach great importance to English education, the practical content of English courses, and the various teaching methods all contribute to the cultivation of internationalized talents in India.
