This paper introduces the conception,basic characteristics,forming background and new i-deas of the smarter forestry. It analyses the relationship between smarter forestry,digital forestry and pan in forestry. It interprets the development strategy of smarter forestry on China and Hunan Province. It sug-gests to research definition, connotation, denotation, character, idea, problem and countermeasure on the smarter forestry for establishing a new science i. e.
