At the end of nineteenth century, driven by the huge interest, the French colonial authori-ties in Fujian coastal areas successfully recruited a number of Chinese laborers by hiring contract in order to send them to work in Madagascar. However, the attractive employment contract was a distinctive con-trast to the actual situation of Chinese laborers, which not only revealed the falsities of the recruitment contract, but also reflected the flabby and impotent of Qing Dynasty.
