The modern surveying and mapping technology with the core of the 3S technology, has already been widely used in the geology and the mineral exploration. Combined with the work in the mineral exploration, by analyzing and comparing, the results show that GPS mapping technology has some deficiencies and limitations although it has incomparable superiority over traditional measurement techniques of operating fast and high quality of outcomes in setting control network and real-time measurement. The mineral mapping is a complex and synthesized engineering technology, according to the specific conditions of the mine, synthesized exertion of GPS technology and traditional measurement techniques will achieve the most reasonable and the best plotting result. Surveying and mapping technology in the future is "free surveying and mapping" which is unrestricted from reference station and operating radius, and can be operated with single man and single apparatus at all times and places to break through the defect of the existing mapping modes, and break away from the restrict of surveying and mapping control network completely.
