根据移民与族群及其文化形成的相互关系，阐述东江客家文化是历次中原移民南下，与土著文化相结合的产物。其中秦代进军岭南，东江作为首途之区，产生客家先民；东晋南朝移民，孕育了客家文化；宋元移民高潮，以主客户比例变化，共同经济模式和共同心理素质，以及客家方言的形成等为标志，显示东江客家及其文化个性定型成熟，与梅江客家一起出现在岭南文化版图上。
근거이민여족군급기문화형성적상호관계，천술동강객가문화시력차중원이민남하，여토저문화상결합적산물。기중진대진군령남，동강작위수도지구，산생객가선민；동진남조이민，잉육료객가문화；송원이민고조，이주객호비례변화，공동경제모식화공동심리소질，이급객가방언적형성등위표지，현시동강객가급기문화개성정형성숙，여매강객가일기출현재령남문화판도상。
According to the relationship between immigration and ethnic and cultural formation,this paper expounds that Dongjiang Hakka culture is the product of all previous southward migrations from the central plains and the combination of the indigenous culture. With the Qin Dynasty into Lingnan,Dongjiang as its first area,Hakka ancestors were produced;the Eastern Jin and South Dynasty im-migrants gave birth to the Hakka culture;the climax of immigration in the Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty,with the changing propor-tion of immigrants to the local natives,the mutual economic mode and the common psychological quality,and the formation of the Hak-ka dialect as the marks,showed the maturity of Dongjiang Hakka and its unique culture which appeared on the landscape of Lingnan culture together with Meijiang Hakka.
