Based on production practice of 30 t medium frequency furnace at a steelmaking plant, described its advantages in melting high alloy special steel. Operation steps of ramming lining and molten steel firing lining are described in detail. Sintered, semi-sintered and unconsolidated layers of initial firing lining, which suitable thickness are 30, 40 and 110 mm, are explained. Unconsolidated layer plays an important role in medium frequency furnace melting. Raw material charging sequence and firing furnace mouth system are put forward, which improving lining life effectively.
