The official documents Su Shi composed during his official term in Xuzhou, which take the forms of Biao, Zou, Shu and Qi, are of high historical value though they have rarely attracted the attention of researchers. These documents have shed light on the subtle and complex situation and hard choices and political achievements during his administration in Xuzhou. His motto of disregarding personal promotion while harboring the broad mass of people in heart has reflected his political tolerance, concerns for the livelihood of the people and noble humanism, making him a monumental idol worthy of people’s respect and admiration.
