镍氢电池在家用电动器具及玩具中得到广泛应用。但是,在过充电、高倍率充电及正常使用过程中会产生过量的氢气,当氢气含量超过4%时,只要有电火花引燃就有爆炸的危险。本文设计测量了不同充电倍率下镍氢电池过充电时氢气的含量,研究表明,在正常使用情况下,电池过充引起爆炸的可能性不大,但是当以高倍率电流滥充时,会提高电池发生安全事故的可能性。

Ni-MH batteries are widely used in household electric appliances and toys. However, hydrogen may be produced during the process of overcharging and high rate charging. If the concentration of hydrogen exceeds 4%, there is a risk of explosion as long as it is lighted with electric spark. This paper designs to test the concentration of hydrogen during overcharging with different charging rate. The research shows that it is impossible to fire or explode for Ni-MH battery when it is used normally. However, the risk of explosion or fire would be increased greatly if the batteries are overcharging at high rate for a long time.
