Wudu M8 earthquake in 1879%seismic disasters%seismic disaster recovery
1879年7月1日(即清光绪五年五月十二日)在甘肃南部的武都、文县之间发生了一次8级大地震,称为武都南地震,震中烈度达Ⅺ度。本次地震造成了严重的建筑物破坏和滑坡、崩塌、次生水灾等震害和约2万余人死亡。本文简要回顾了武都南8级地震的研究历史,归纳总结了本次地震的烈度分布特征和衰减规律,重新绘制了烈度等震线图,重点对本次地震的震害类型及特征、地震形变特征和震后抗灾救灾等情况进行了综合分析与评述。总体上看,本次地震震级大,人员伤亡率高,破坏区范围广,震灾非常严重。科学总结和分析本次地震的震灾特征,对未来的大震科学研究、震灾防御和应急救援等均有重要科学意义和实用价值。
1879年7月1日(即清光緒五年五月十二日)在甘肅南部的武都、文縣之間髮生瞭一次8級大地震,稱為武都南地震,震中烈度達Ⅺ度。本次地震造成瞭嚴重的建築物破壞和滑坡、崩塌、次生水災等震害和約2萬餘人死亡。本文簡要迴顧瞭武都南8級地震的研究歷史,歸納總結瞭本次地震的烈度分佈特徵和衰減規律,重新繪製瞭烈度等震線圖,重點對本次地震的震害類型及特徵、地震形變特徵和震後抗災救災等情況進行瞭綜閤分析與評述。總體上看,本次地震震級大,人員傷亡率高,破壞區範圍廣,震災非常嚴重。科學總結和分析本次地震的震災特徵,對未來的大震科學研究、震災防禦和應急救援等均有重要科學意義和實用價值。

A large earthquake occurred between Wudu and Wenxian in the south of Gansu Province with M8 on July 1st, 1879. It is called the Southern Wudu Earthquake. The intensity of the epicenter area was aboutⅪ. This earthquake caused serious secondary disasters, such as destruction of buildings, landslides, rock collapses and flood, and also more than 20 000 deaths. This paper reviewed the research history of the Southern Wudu M8 earthquake in 1879, described the features of its intensity distribution and attenuation, and drew the seismic isoseismal lines again according to the new data. Analysis and commentaries were made of the features of seismic disasters, seismic deformation zones, seismic resistances and rescue work after the earthquake. In a word, this earthquake was characterized by strong magnitude, high injuries and deaths, large destructive area, and severity of disasters. The study should be of very important scientific significance for the future big earthquake research, seismic disaster recovery and emergency rescue.
