On the basis of analyzing the traditional flow control modes of fans and pumps in the steel industry,we dug deeper into the energy-saving potentiality of fans and pumps applying with high-volt-age frequency conversion technology in iron and steel enterprises from two aspects,namely,the design margin and the equipment margin. And we illustrate the obvious energy-saving effect of frequency conversion technology combining with application examples. Moreover,we introduce three methods to estimate the energy-saving potentiality and their application occasions. These methods estimate the power saving rate through the value opening,the speed ratio of hydraulic coupler and the input power of the converter respectively. The availability of these methods is proved through examples.
